Coffee Connection

I am not new to blogging and this blog is dedicated to my Dad, who passed away 25 days ago! I like to share my memories, experiences and my Dad's phylosphy about life, his knowledge, and wisdom!

Yesterday I went out with my girls in the noon and was coming back in auto by evening. Since yesterday was a public holiday to observe a festival, I saw a lot of crowd and suddenly traffic jam, that auto had to come to a stop almost! Then I looked around to find where we were...it was Lalbagh! It's a botanical garden, in Bangalore, which means The Red Garden in English, which was commissioned in 1760, by one of the Mughal emperors.

Suddenly I saw a girl who might be 10-12 years old putting her hand inside her Dad's arm and crossing the road, going towards Lalbagh. Those arms were strong, warm and protective and I could easily make out seeing the girl's face that she is happy and lucky to have the world's best Dad who is so very caring and kind!

Auto started moving further, as traffic got cleared a bit...and now it passed in front of a Bank! The bank was closed cause of holiday. But I saw a girl in her early 20's walking towards the bank, to draw the pension money of her Dad's! It was exciting and sort of fun for the girl as she loved to watch whole banking procedures, since she had a dream that one day she might work in a bank!

And now auto was approaching The Indian Institute of World culture, which is a public institution, a library. I saw a road side vendor on a cart selling, raw mangoes, which we call in Kannada, "gini muuthi mavinakai"!  Which is very tasty, little tangy and it has its own flavor, smell, and taste. It's usually cut into slices and dip in little salt-red chili powder mix and eat! So I saw a Dad, who was buying 5-6 of them, after smelling each of them to see if it's perfectly ripe to eat and despite the vendor cribbing not to do so! I could clearly say, that this Dad always, always, all his life, wanted the very best things in life for his kids!!

From there the auto now passed the side road of Gandhi Bazar, which was heaven to one small happy family, who lived their! Though lot of things have changed in that street, but still there are few old stores, where there are still some familiar faces, who have gotten old, still struggling to meet the ends, like the "iron angadi" which we used to call, in Kannada, where they used to press clothes and dresses. The small, book stores, which they used to sell "Lekhak" books, which was the only type of books, in those days, students should buy to write, recommend by schools.

A small hand, pressed my arms, and asked "Mommy is your coffee still very hot"? And I just realized that all these time I went down the memory lane, watching those streets..! The 10-12 year old girl holding hands of her Dad, girl who went to bank, the Dad who bought raw mangoes.....were all disappeared and it was me now, a woman, married with two kids and lost both parents less than a year!  And it was my 10 year old who asked was my coffee hot! I came back to present state!

I had Coffee Day's coffee cup in my hand, which actually had become cold! My Dad used to love coffee and he could afford to drink 7-8 cups of coffee a day! It was first time when Coffee Day concept was new, where only different favors, combinations of coffee served, where they had small sofas to sit and have coffee and chat, time pass! I took my Dad there, but he was so shocked to know that a coffee costs, 80 Rupees! We both sat and had coffee and he really loved the coffee! I am like him, I love coffee! Those who knows me very well, also would know about my coffee love! I would rather say, Appa, me and our coffee connection!
